2024 Primary Election

If there are 15+ days before an election, voters can register online, by mail, or in person. Within 14 days of an election, and on Election Day, voters may only register by visiting their local clerk’s office to register in person with proof of residency documentation.

In Michigan, any voter can vote by absentee ballot without providing a reason. Residents must be registered and fill out an application with a valid signature. Check the status of your absentee ballot or application at the Michigan Voter Information Center.

Online and mail requests for an absentee ballot must be received by your township or city clerk no later than 5 p.m. the Friday before the election
